Regional Radar

With some success, comes some hope: Here's what some college baseball writers think of Auburn's Chances of making it to the NCAA Baseball Tourney:

SITE PREDICTION Previously Change
Rivals (SEBaseball.com) 2 Seed (Tallahassee) 2 Seed (Tallahassee) Holding
College Baseball Blog 2 Seed
(Miami)
Host (Auburn) Dropping

Still no change at SEBaseball and their probably won't be until Auburn can win some SEC series against Top to Middle competition. The only real change from last week at SEBaseball is that instead of facing familiar foe Florida Atlantic, Auburn is slated against familiar foe South Alabama. At least The College Baseball Blog has Auburn out of Tallahassee and instead in a tough Coral Gables regional with host Miami, Kansas (who took a series from LSU this year), and underrated Florida Gulf Coast (with one of the best pitching staffs in the nation).

TOURNAMENT RESUME
RECORD 20-10
Boyd RPI 22
Nolan RPI 20
Boyd ISR (Strength Ratings) 30
Nolan NPI (Power Index) 20
KEY WINS Alabama (3/24, 3/29), BC (2/26), FAU (2/28), South AL (4/7)
KEY LOSSES SEMO (2/19), Missouri (2/27)
BOYD'S Strength of Schedule 34
Warren Nolan Strength of Schedule 15
RECORD v RPI 1-50 6-7
RECORD v RPI 51-100 4-1
RECORD v RPI 101-200 5-2
RECORD v RPI 201+ 5-0

FINAL PREDICTION: All I can say right now is thank Jobu for the Sun Belt conference. Probably one of the highest rated non-BCS conferences (#6 in Warren Nolan's Conference Power Index). With Auburn's win over South Alabama last night, the Tigers got a nice little RPI bump. Still, there's a ton of work to be done and AU definitely needs to improve both their record vs RPI 1-50 and our road record (5-6) which is one of the only negatives on Nolan's nitty gritty report. The Tiger's still need some quality wins to pad out the rest of the schedule.
